Runway to Real Way: the Twenties

21 May

Fringe, sequins, silks create the basis for a dreamy wardrobe from a time, long ago. With high anticipation for the Great Gatsby movie out later this year, this Spring trend is the perfect way to tide us over before seeing Leo on the big screen. With a soft palette, sheer silks and pajama-inspired pieces are simple but chic in an understated way. The Row (below) shows you that a simple loose pant can make menswear sexy. A bit more of my style is the feminine fringe, and sequin patterns that can work from day to night. Whether a fringe mini, or a breathlessly beautiful Oscar de la Renta gown you can transition the trend into any day wear.

Top: Tory Burch, Marc Jacobs, Derek Lam. Middle: Marchesa, Ralph Lauren, Rachel Zoe. Bottom: The Row, Oscar de la Renta, Derek Lam.

Remember loose fits, pale colors, and sneaks of skin when you’re buying this style. Here are a few pieces to purchase to try the trend…

Haute Hippie, Rachel Zoe, JCrew, Madewell. Middle: ASOS, BCBGMaxAzria, Alice + Olivia, Elizabeth and James, Juicy Couture and Topshop. Click  here for buying information.
